The Webuild Group in Italy

Public works to build Italy's future

Strategic infrastructure that contributes to Italy’s growth and renewal

In Italy, we are committed to designing and building innovative and sustainable projects, that are key to developing mobility across the peninsula and Europe, as well as reducing the environmental impact of urbanised areas. Such crucial infrastructure for mobility and transport and eco-sustainable buildings improve people’s lives, both today and tomorrow.

In 2019, Webuild launched Progetto Italia, an industrial operation aimed at reviving the Italian infrastructure sector, and creating value for the Company and its stakeholders. We have increased the Group’s size, technical and professional know-how, and financial strength by acquiring leading Italian companies in the sector. The most important operation conducted under Progetto Italia was the acquisition of Astaldi, the second largest builder in the country.

The value of the Italian supply chain

Sustainable and iconic public works that reflect manufacturing excellence and a commitment to help Italy grow

In the 2019-2020 period, Webuild consolidated its presence in Italy, by engaging in projects such as the Genoa San Giorgio Bridge and the Genoa railway hub, both essential for relaunching the Liguria region like the Terzo Valico dei Giovi high speed/high capacity railway. The Group started work on the final section of the Jonian Highway and signed a contract to begin work on the Verona-Bivio di Vicenza section of the Verona-Padua high speed/high capacity railway.

Webuild is also involved in several lots of the Brenner Base Tunnel, which will be the longest underground rail link in the world. Work is underway on metro lines Rome, Milan and Naples. There are also green buildings, like the new Eni headquarters in San Donato Milanese, and the Monopoli-Fasano hospital in Puglia.
